TRY on IRIS store home: six sofas in grey, beige, charcoal, yellow, brown leather and red surround the title and a red sofa finder button.

Brief

Iris Ohyama sells more home products on Amazon Japan than any other brand, and wanted to be known for furniture as well. Buying a sofa or a bed from photos is hard, because you can’t tell its real size or see it from enough angles. The team made a virtual showroom, starting with a sofa page and a bed page.

My part

  • Led engineering of both pages, on desktop and mobile.
  • Built the sofa finder and the related-item recommendations.
  • Made the 360° views play directly on the page. Before this, they opened in a new window.
  • Added AR, so you can see a sofa at its real size in your own room.

The work

Placing a sofa in a room with AR.
Tablet screens laid out at an angle showing the store's desktop pages: a colour-swatch sofa finder, room styling photos, customer reviews and a dark feature section.
The desktop pages: the sofa finder, room ideas and reviews.
Phone screens laid out at an angle showing the mobile store: the TRY on IRIS home, the colour finder, room photos, reviews and product cards.
The mobile pages.
