The Disney+ hub on Fire TV: seven category tiles for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, National Geographic, anime, Star Wars and Star, with a QR code to subscribe in the corner.

Brief

In Japan, most people think of Disney+ as Disney and Pixar films for families. It also has anime, Korean dramas, Star Wars and National Geographic. Disney+ wanted a page on Fire TV that shows this wider range and gets people to subscribe.

Built to be reused

Disney+ was the first brand to use the hub, but I built it as a Webflow template that any Brand Innovation Lab team around the world can use. They choose the template, add the content, and the next client has a Fire TV hub. It was also the first custom Fire TV build in Webflow in Japan.

My part

  • Built the design in Webflow, and gave feedback on what it needed to work as a hub.
  • Got full-screen video working inside a Fire TV ad, which works differently from full screen in a browser.
  • Wrote custom code for the parts Webflow can’t handle, and made it reusable for future campaigns.

The work

Moving through the categories with the remote, then opening Star Wars and playing the Andor trailer.
The anime page: Twisted Wonderland, Medalist season 2 and Bullet/Bullet, each with a synopsis, a trailer button and a sign up to watch button.
The anime page.
The Star page: Gannibal season 2, Shogun and Made in Korea, each with a synopsis, a trailer button and a sign up to watch button.
The Star page, with Gannibal, Shogun and Made in Korea.
The category grid with every tile turned over to show a short line about what is in it.
Each tile flips to a description when the remote selects it.
A paused clip with a play button in the middle and a panel at the top with a QR code to scan with your phone and sign up to Disney+.
When a clip ends, a QR code lets you sign up on your phone.
