Brief
Credence Audit checks whether companies that license a brand pay the royalties they owe. An audit involves loading the licensee’s files, reconciling sales against royalty statements, looking for patterns, finding products sold without being declared, and writing it all up. One audit can take 100 to 150 hours, most of it by hand.
Where AI is usedEvery number in the reconciliation is calculated by rules, so an auditor can defend each line. AI is only used where judgement is needed, such as spotting a licensed character in a Japanese product name, and drafting findings for a person to edit.
My part
- Designed and built the product to follow the steps of an audit, from the files to the report.
- On the Files screen, you map a licensee’s spreadsheet to the right columns once, and ask for missing data from the same screen.
- Reconciliation compares statements with sales line by line, and traces every shortfall to the till or order it came from.
- Unreported products finds items declared as the licensee’s own design that are actually licensed characters.
- Findings are turned into report text in the firm’s style, then reviewed and signed off before anything is sent.
